Kandi Burruss Steps into the Spotlight in Broadway’s "& Juliet"

Entertainment Desk- The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" icon and Grammy-winning songwriter Kandi Burruss has officially returned to the Broadway stage. On December 11, 2025, Burruss made her debut in the hit musical & Juliet at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, taking over the role of Angélique (Juliet’s Nurse).
While she is often celebrated for her business savvy and reality TV longevity, this role marks a significant return to her roots as a performer. Burruss is scheduled for a limited engagement through March 8, 2026.

A "Perfect" Fit for a Songwriting Legend
& Juliet is a "maximalist" pop musical that flips the script on Shakespeare’s tragedy, imagining what would happen if Juliet didn't end it all and instead went on a journey of self-discovery. The show is powered by the massive catalog of legendary songwriter Max Martin, featuring hits like "Roar," "Baby One More Time," and "Since U Been Gone."
For Burruss—the pen behind classics like TLC’s "No Scrubs" and Destiny’s Child’s "Bills, Bills, Bills"—the production feels like a full-circle moment.
--"As a songwriter myself, I am such a fan of Max Martin's genius mind, and to get to come back to Broadway in this joyful musical that celebrates his catalog is a dream come true," Burruss shared in a statement.
In the show, Burruss performs the Pink anthem "Fkin' Perfect,"** a song she admits resonates deeply with her current personal journey, including her recent high-profile separation from Todd Tucker.

From Producer to Performer
While & Juliet marks her first time performing on Broadway in eight years (since her 2018 run as Mama Morton in Chicago), Burruss has been anything but absent from the New York theatre scene. Over the last few years, she has established herself as a powerhouse Broadway Producer.

Why This Role Matters

Playing Angélique allows Burruss to showcase her comedic timing and powerhouse vocals. The character serves as Juliet’s protector and confidante, eventually finding her own romance and independence as the story unfolds. Burruss has noted that the protective nature of the role reminds her of her relationship with her daughter, Riley, making the performance feel lived-in and authentic.
